Mugs, Mugs, Mugs!

What’s on our mind these days? MUGS.

We’ve been busy bees in the studio making all the mugs. Tall, short, extra large, carved, inlaid – you name it, we’re making it. In fact, I can hear Coo downstairs in the studio carving patterns and listening to her book on tape as type this. No secrets here.

Please enjoy these process photos in the studio.

Diana uses the wheel to brush slip onto the mugs. That slip eventually gets carved off to reveal the reveal the patterns in our “carved mugs” line. You can see her carving the pattern in the photos below.

Below, a moment of zen pottery time on the wheel. You can see, Diana is brushing slip onto the mugs in real time. Much to my chagrin the video is vertical. One of my core videography beliefs is that videos should all be taken horizontally.. but social media has other plans for video ratio and this was taken to be shared on social media. I digress.. please enjoy (and sorry for the vertical format!)

Now, the mugs are all carved and ready to head to the kiln. We don’t have a date for that firing yet but stay tuned.

Kiln firing season is just around the corner!

Lastly, are you really even a pottery supervisor (and documentarian!) if you don’t take an upside down selfie? I don’t think so. 😜

See you next time,
Claire
